FAQ

Occasionery

Why should I choose Occasionery over another stationery retailer?

Occasionery offers discounts on popular brands that other retailers do not. But, what truly makes Occasionery unique is its customer service. Finding the right invitation, building the proper wording, addressing the envelopes appropriately etc., can be a stressful and time consuming process. Stationery stores may not be able to provide you with the one on one quality attention and time that you need. Because Occasionery works by appointment only, you receive all the attention you want for your special occasion.

Can I bring a friend or family member with me to my appointment?

Yes. This process should be fun for you. Feel free to bring someone with you whose opinion you value since there are so many styles and choices.

Did Occasionery used to be called Invitations by Sandra Morrow?

Yes, Occasionery purchased the business Invitations by Sandra Morrow in 2010.

Invitations and Orders

When should I send Save the Dates?

Save the dates are often sent to guests between 6 and 9 months prior to the wedding. As long as you have your date and location secured save the dates can be sent out. Especially for destination weddings, weddings over holiday weekends, and weddings with many out of town guests, Occasionery recommends sending the save the date out this far in advance to ensure your guests have ample time to plan for your big day.

When should I begin the invitation process?

For weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Occasionery recommends beginning the invitation process 5 to 6 months in advance. This assures you will have enough time to find exactly what you are looking for, account for proofing and printing time, and addressing and mailing. Invitations typically are mailed to guests 6 to 8 weeks before the event.

Can I pick an invitation online and have Occasionery order it for me?

Yes. If you see something online from one of Occasionery's brands, contact Occasionery with the item number and details and Occasionery will place the order for you to ensure you receive any applicable discounts.

Should I order a proof?

Occasionery highly suggests ordering proofs with your order. We will email you a pdf proof for your approval. Proofs give you piece of mind that your order will look exactly as you want it to and helps to eliminate the possibility of errors or reordering. Proof prices range from brand to brand, but usually run between $5 and $15.

How will my order ship and how long will it take?

Orders ship to Occasionery and typically arrive within ten days of ordering. Drop shipping and expedited shipping are available for an extra charge. Orders can be picked up at Occasionery's studio or can often be dropped off for your convenience!

Will I be charged sales tax?

Yes. All stationery and calligraphy orders will be charged Ohio sales tax unless the order is being shipped out of state.

How do I pay for my order?

All orders require a 50% deposit upon placing an order. Balances + tax and shipping will be due when order arrives. Occasionery accepts cash, checks, VENMO and CHASE QUICKPAY.  Credit cards are accepted, but incur a 3% service fee.

What if there is a mistake on my order?

Occasionery's attention to detail on each order along with customer approval of proofs, cut down on the possibility of a mistake on your order. However, in the event a mistake is made on Occasionery or the stationery brand's part, be assured you will receive a corrected order at no cost to you.

Postage and Mailing

How much will my invitation cost to mail?

Each invitation is unique. Odd sizes and shapes typically require extra postage. It's important to take a complete invitation including all enclosures (response card, reception card, etc) to the post office and have it weighed for an exact first-class postage price. Often times the post office will have special stamps to accommodate your envelope so you do not have to put more than one stamp on the envelope.

What is hand canceling?

Hand canceling means your invitations will be postmarked by hand and should bypass the automated canceling machine. This is considered to be "superior" to machine canceling when it comes to formal invitations because it protects the invitations, wax seals, envelopes etc from damage which may result from the machine. It also helps cut down on ink markings on the envelope. Each post office's policies on hand canceling are different so be sure to contact your local post office regarding fees, process time, etc.
